What's wrong with the ignition coil damage?

           fault diagnosis and elimination

           (1) touch the ignition coil shell induction temperature, feel the heat is normal, if hot as ignition coil, there is turn to turn short circuit fault.

           (2) measurement of a winding and two winding resistance value with a multimeter, if the measured resistance is infinite, winding circuit fault; if the resistance is too large or too small, the winding or poor contact points (interturn short circuit at 20 degrees C environment, a winding resistance should be 0.5-1.on, the electronic ignition system, conventional ignition system should be 1.5-3.0n. The resistance value of the two winding should be 2.5-4kn, and the traditional ignition system is 6-8kn. The winding ground connection, with universal meter measuring resistance ignition coil terminals and the ignition coil shell to identify. The resistance is zero, indicating that the winding ground; poor insulation resistance of less than 50Mn.

           (3) some faults of ignition coils can not be reflected only by universal measuring resistance method. For example, the ignition coil internal insulation aging or small cracks, these are only under high voltage leakage caused by secondary voltage drop, ignition energy is insufficient and make the engine work abnormal or not work. These faults need to be accurately identified by special instruments.

           (4) substitution method, test by contrast jump fire method. This method can be carried out on the test bench or on the car, and the tested ignition coil and the good ignition coil are connected respectively to see whether the spark intensity is the same. Ignition coil testing, such as the internal short circuit, open circuit, ground fault, or fire strength does not meet the requirements, the general should be replaced with new parts. These failures will cause the ignition coil: no voltage two times, or two times the voltage is too low and not ignition; can jump, but because the two voltage decreased, ignition energy shortage and high off the fire, no fire, the engine is difficult to start, idle instability, power loss, and exhaust pollution fuel consumption increase.
